UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Bataleon Evil Twin here

Even some of the more popular boards are eventually put out to pasture and replaced in a brand’s line, but we’d put good money on the Bateleon Evil Twin still being around for many, many years to come. Why? Because it works.

“The Bataleon Evil Twin is the ultimate showcase for the company’s signature Triple Base Technology”

The Bataleon Evil Twin is the ultimate showcase for the company’s signature Triple Base Technology. By dividing the base of the board lengthways into three sections at the nose and tail, and making the side sections rise up from the one in the middle, Bataleon changed the game. Now a board could have all the trumpeted benefits of rocker boards (so popular at the time of 3BT’s birth), but without losing the advantages of a true camber profile.

On a true twin board like the Bataleon Evil Twin, that turns what would have been a standard freestyle board into an all-mountain machine. The 3BT increases the float in powder, whilst turn initiation on groomers is as smooth as silk – especially with this year’s ‘Side Kick’ tweak to the widest sections of the board, which have been raised further still.

“For truly all-mountain performance that helps you step up your trick game, look no further”

It’s technically geared for park riding, but this has proven time and again to be a favourite of those looking for a one-board solution. In addition to its powder chops, it has a medium flex that’s stiff enough to charge but soft enough to butter. The camber profile, triax fibreglass and bamboo-enhanced core make it a fantastic board for whipping down pistes on the days when the park’s not firing and it hasn’t dumped in days.

If you’re not remotely interested in freestyle, then the Bataleon Evil Twin has a few stablemates that may be more appropriate for you – but for truly all-mountain performance that helps you step up your trick game, look no further. There’s also a version with an asymmetric twist on 3BT, which is worth checking out if you prefer asym boards.

Tester’s Verdict

Michael Readsnowfit.co.uk

“The Bataleon Evil Twin is perfect for riders of any level, especially those who mainly ride park but are looking for a board that will hold up just as well when they venture out of it.

“Perfect for riders of any level, especially those who mainly ride park”

Out of all of the boards with TBT that I’ve ridden, this has definitely been the most subtle. It still has that surfy feel and smooth rock from edge to edge without feeling unstable. I always love to test my buttering skills on these boards; having the edges slightly lifted makes it a lot harder to snag your rails, and combined with the medium flex on this board it strikes a great balance.

You can really push the Evil Twin, even when the terrain is bit chopped up. It can take heavy landings, which is ideal for jumping off side hits and tackling moguls as well as sending it off the larger jumps in the park.

I know a lot of guys who ride the Evil Twin, and it always gets a lot of praise.”

Trade Secrets

Dennis Dusseldorp – Product Manager, Bataleon

The Evil Twin has been in our line since 2005, and has always been a fan favourite.

It’s not really a secret, but this board performs in all conditions and excels both in and outside the park.

The Evil Twin's Triple Base Technology is more pronounced in the nose than the tail.
