The Distortia is the Swiss army knife of the women’s Bataleon collection, despite not being Swiss or often found in the pocket of a man in cargo shorts. Purely in the sense that the Bataleon Distortia is a board that is as versatile, adaptable and sought after any other on the market. This is your all-mountain freestyle quiver killer, primed and ready to go.

One of the many features that sets Bataleon apart from the crowd was their early adoption of the 3D shape movement that is now such an industry staple. Their patented Triple Base Technology (3BT) mimics the way a board would flex and move when put under pressure. Lengthwise the board is fully cambered, but it features what is essentially a torsional rocker with the side bases being lifted in the nose and tail.

“Their patented Triple Base Technology mimics the way a board would flex and move when put under pressure”

The Distortia has been engineered for pure park destruction, with a mix of features that set it apart from the pack and offer quick progression and seamless flow. The flat section runs down the middle of the board and delivers heaps of stability for flatland and straight lining on the in run. The positive camber and Carbon Super Tube run the length of the board injecting a big dose of dynamic power and giving you some extra pep in your step when you’re boosting off the lip, without affecting the overall softer, more playful flex.

The uplifted sidebases, found on all Bataleon boards, are where you really notice the difference from a standard deck. The catch free nature of 3BT gives you a ‘get out of jail free’ card on every single landing, whether you under rotate, land tail heavy or misjudge and completely knuckle it, you’ll get a bunch of extra leeway. You can dial in new tricks and broaden your horizons safe in the knowledge that 3BT has got your back.

“Carbon stringers cross brace under each binding to drive more power to the edges with less effort and work to dampen the ride”

For a relatively soft true twin board, the Distortia performs way better across the whole mountain than it has any right to. The 3BT profile engages the whole edge simultaneously whilst carving for a super locked in and smooth ride, and when the snow gets deeper the pre-angled lifts give you more float than you’d think possible on a board of its size. Carbon stringers cross brace under each binding to drive more power to the edges with less effort and work to dampen the ride, soaking up chatter from bumpy landings and choppy conditions.

Bataleon have upgraded the core this season, to a lighter mix of Swiss Paulownia and Poplar. The reduction of underfoot weight means getting airborne is easier than ever, and the durable blend makes the Distortia the gift that keeps giving.

Developed for those who like to rip, the Bataleon Distortia can be found strapped to the feet of many a discerning lady shredder. If you’re looking for a one stop shop for all things awesome, the Distortia is one party wagon you’d be a fool to overlook.

Tester’s Verdict 2019/20

“The first time I rode this board I was so enamoured I immediately went out and bought one. That was several years ago now, and each year I ride the updated model and I’m reminded why I fell in love with snowboarding in the first place. The Distortia is a complete mountain destroyer, there’s absolutely no need to traipse off on holiday with a collection of snowboards anymore.

““The Distortia is a complete and utter quiver killer”

On piste the camber profile keeps it feeling lively and I find it very solid on its edge. Admittedly you do have to roll a little further to get there, but trust the 3BT and you’re golden. The Distortia is responsive without feeling twitchy, and I’ve never felt wobbly at speed despite the relatively soft flex.

As a rider who is always looking to progress the Distortia is a complete pleasure to strap into. The uplifts in the nose and tail give you stacks of confidence when you’re going for new tricks. It’s such a confidence inspiring board, and allows you to just ride and have fun. Being able to ride away even when you haven’t landed perfectly is a God send. It’s poppy and playful, and brings fun by the bag load.

I can even attest to its ride-ability in powder, and while it wouldn’t be my first choice for a pow hunting trip to Japan it’s able to handle the deep snow much better than you’d think. I love this board, and can’t recommend its versatile nature enough. It’s a true go anywhere board, that’s as eager to have fun as you are”

Tester’s Verdict 2018/19

“Once again Bataleon have hit the mark with the Distortia – it’s the board I want with me for any and all conditions.

I took it out on what was a pretty icy morning, and was really impressed with how stable and powerful it felt. As long as you trust the 3BT to do its job you’ll keep ripping and gripping on piste, even when the conditions are slightly scatty.

Taking it through the park was an absolute treat; the uplifts in the nose and tail mean you don’t have to be stomping landings and you can get away with being a bit sketchy without too much trouble. 3BT is premium in the powder, and always gave a floaty surfy feel with minimum effort.

I would recommend this board to anyone who wants a jack of all trades that’s gonna allow you to progress across every single part of the mountain.”
