UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Bataleon Distortia here

An affordable, serviceable all-mountain option for women of all abilities, the Bataleon Distortia is an idea choice for any rider wanting try Triple Base Technology for the first time.

“You can butter the piste with less fear of catching an edge, whilst still having a sturdy camber profile with which to carve up the entire mountain”

The uplifted edges at the nose and tail let you cut loose, while the stable camber profile rides the whole mountain with ease. Thus any 3BT board can handle all conditions; you can butter the piste with less fear of catching an edge, whilst still having a sturdy camber profile with which to carve up the entire mountain.

Under each foot sits an ‘X’ of basalt stringers. These toughen and stiffen the board up at those areas, especially from edge to edge, but only those areas. When you want to twist the board with your feet, it’s a piece of cake,

The Bataleon Distortia is no noodle from end to end, though. Lightweight bamboo runs along the whole length, in amongst the poplar core, so you get a bit more pop in what is already a medium-stiff board. You can really open the throttle on this, but it’s not so stiff that all it’s good for is speed.

The tough extruded base is just asking to be put to the test on park features too, so anyone picking up the Bataleon Distortia would do well to take it everywhere.

Tester’s Verdict

Joy Dutchsnowboard-asylum.com

“My go-to board for any and all conditions, the Distortia is a proper quiver killer. If you’re looking for one board to do it all, this is it.

“It’s easy going and mellow when you’re cruising, but super explosive and poppy when you push it”

Anyone from a beginner to an expert would struggle not to have fun on this thing; it’s easy going and mellow when you’re cruising, but super explosive and poppy when you push it. Progression is king, and TBT makes it so forgiving when you’re learning new tricks (or just struggling after necking a bottle of Jäger the night before).

It floats easily in powder, with a loose surfy feel when you’re putting in the deep turns and rips and grips on piste like nobody’s business.”
