Quiksilver TR Stretch 2018-2019 Snowboard Jacket Review

Nice like Rice

‘Only endorse products that you believe in’ is a mantra that we’d hope most pro snowboarders adhere to. One man that we don’t doubt, however, is Travis Rice. He’s massively hands-on with the development of seemingly every product he uses, including snowboards, bindings  and goggles.

The same is true of his outerwear. The Quiksilver TR Stretch snowboard jacket boasts Trice’s seal of approval, and is built for the kind of borderline-masochistic gnar-finding with which he’s become synonymous.

“The breathability of the lining varies across the different areas of the jacket, concentrating the heat where you need it most”

The Quiksilver TR Stretch jacket is a classic shell, one that allows you to layer for the conditions. That said, it’s not without a few tricks of its own for regulating your temperature. The breathability of the lining varies across the different areas of the jacket, concentrating the heat where you need it most.

The bulletproof ‘DryFlight’ material keeps the elements at bay, and (as you may have figured out thanks to the name) is designed for completely unrestricted movement. The four-way stretch fabric keeps you comfortable no matter how many shapes you throw – or windows you wind – as you explore the whole mountain.

The mesh-backed underarm vents are ideal for the warmer days, and when it’s really scorchio you can also open the chest vents for refreshing descents. At the other end of the climate scale, you’re guarded against the worst that Mother Nature can chuck at you thanks to fully taped seams, water-resistant zips, wrist gaiters, a powder skirt and a jacket-to-pant interface. The NOC list in Mission: Impossible had less protection.

Polishing your goggles on the go is easy thanks to the built-in lens cleaner found in one of the pockets, and there’s an interior mesh pocket for stashing them when they’re not needed – and if you want to go full Trav-tard, you can pair this with the matching Quiksilver Hubble TR goggles.

The Quiksilver TR Stretch snowboard jacket is pretty high-spec, so might be overkill if you don’t ride all that often, but for regular adventureboarding then a shell like this is just the thing.
