Still the biggest name in snowboarding, Burton’s female-specific outerwear line is more comprehensive than most other brands’ entire ranges, so you’re bound to find something that suits you in there. If you’re after an eye-catching all-rounder, the Burton Prowess women’s snowboard jacket could be the one.
“The bottom hem may look a bit fashion-over-function, however it’s anything but”
The bottom hem may look a bit fashion-over-function, however it’s anything but. Underneath lies a waist gaiter to protect you from getting snow up your back, and there’s a jacket-to-pant connection system too. If you’re not going to be getting in any powder, there’s always the option to remove the gaiter using the simple zip system – and the wrist gaiters can be permanently removed if you’d rather ride without.
At the neck you’ll find a synthetic fleece material which is about as comfortable as it gets. The rest of the jacket features ‘Thermolite’ insulation, which traps warm pockets of air in a lightweight yet effective system. Breathability is also very strong, thanks to a larger surface area for moisture to escape through. It’s a little thicker in the torso than in the sleeves, so you’ll get all the warmth you need without feeling like the Michelin Man.
