The DaKine Excursion snowboard gloves are found in the brand’s ‘Highline’ collection. As you may have guessed, only the best stuff finds its way in there; gloves that can keep your digits cosy in some of the most inhospitable environments on the planet.

These are among the warmest gloves that DaKine makes, thanks to hefty-yet-lightweight Primaloft insulation. As well as being toasty, that stuff has excellent moisture-banishing properties, and given that the easiest way to stay warm on the mountain is to stay dry, you’re on to a winner with these.

Gore-Tex is always crazy breathable, but the ‘Gore Active’ variety found on the insert of the DaKine Excursion gloves kicks things up a notch. Warmth and waterproofing are still taken care of, but if you tend to get sweaty hands then these may have the edge you’ve been looking for. Before moisture builds up, it passes out through the Gore-Tex membrane and away from your hands for good.

So your skin will stay dry, and thanks to the smooth wool blend lining they’ll be cosy too. It’s not too heavy, so you won’t overcook, and there’s still nothing that beats it in the comfort stakes.

The construction is a combination of leather (on the fingertips, knuckles and palm) and a stretchy soft shell fabric. Engineered with a four-way stretch, it gives the DaKine Excursion gloves all the freedom of movement you could ever want. Meanwhile the leather sections provide extra durability in all the right places, and the whole lot has been treated with a durable water repellent coating.

There’s another version that comes with a much shorter cuff, if that’s what you prefer, and also a mitt with similar features. Whatever style you prefer, there’s a DaKine Excursion that’s just right for you.
