Why We Chose The ThirtyTwo Lashed Double BOA: When it comes to snowboard boots, the Lashed are a bonafide classic – and with the addition of BOA laces, they’re as convenient as they are comfy.

Take a stroll around any snowboard-friendly mountain town, from Mammoth to Morzine, and you’ll see countless pairs of ThirtyTwo Lashed. They’re one of the lightest boots out there, with a relaxed flex that’s great for freestyle progression and some invariably sick colorways. The latest Double BOA version trades some of the Lashed’s legendary sneaker-like looks for the most reliable speed lacing system in the game.

“Available from US size 5 to 14, there’s a Lashed for almost every rider, and performance wise it can do it all”

Who Are The ThirtyTwo Lashed Double BOA For?

Available from US size 5 to 14, there’s a Lashed for almost every rider, and performance wise it can do it all. That said, its mid-level flex makes it less suited to critical big mountain lines and a perennial favourite of park rats and opportunistic powder hounds who like to get airborne at every opportunity.

Shell and Outsole

The shell is constructed from tough and waterproof synthetic material, with an articulated cuff that enables the upper part of the boot to flex smoothly and without distortion. A tough spine and a reinforced 3D moulded tongue bring extra support.

ThirtyTwo use 1:1 lasting for their boots, which means that each half size is designed around its own dedicated last. In short, you can expect a super precise fit.

The Dual BOA Fit system will be pretty familiar to most snowboarders by now. It allows you to tighten the forefoot and upper section independently – and make rapid adjustments on the fly – using the wheels on the front and side. The H4 dials are chunky enough to operate with gloves on so you can swerve the kind of frostbite you get sorting out your laces on a pow day. Releasing the boot is as simple as popping them up and yanking on the tongue. Textile-coated TX3 laces are a big step up from the ugly steel cables of Gary Hammerslag’s original BOA system (and yes, he really was called Hammerslag) but we’ll be honest, they’re never going to match a traditional lace-up for looks. For most riders these days, though, the fast entry and exit is worth it.

Exclusive Evolution foam cushioning soaks up vibrations and takes the sting out of heavy landings, while a Performance Rubber outsole provides reliable grip underfoot – whether you’re jogging up a frozen stairset, billy-goating over rocks or negotiating a treacherous après walk when half cut.

Last but not least, the 2024 Lashed Double BOA is available in some of the freshest colours of any boot – including collabs with The Bomb Hole podcast, Crab Grab and team riders Chris Bradshaw and Zeb Powell (though you’ll need to pay a few more bucks for the signature models).

“In short, you can expect a super precise fit”

ThirtyTwo’s liners have a distinctive feel compared to all the other boot brands – super lightweight yet supportive. They were also one of the first boot companies to offer heat mouldable liners, and the latest Lashed is no exception. It features a ‘Team’ level liner (basically middle of the ThirtyTwo range) boasting dual density foam that can be customised to your foot in store.

The liner is paired with an ergonomic footbed with excellent arch support, and a separate harness that keeps your foot locked in. If you require even more heel hold, the Lashed comes with a set of foam donuts that can be inserted into the side of the liner; there are two thicknesses to choose from depending on your needs.

“Not for nothing has this boot stood the test of time”

Death, taxes… and the ThirtyTwo Lashed. Not for nothing has this boot stood the test of time. In a crowded field of mid-flex all-mountain models it still stands out for its featherweight, freestyle-friendly fit and unmistakable style. The Double BOA iteration (ahem) dials up the convenience to get you out the door and onto your favourite lift faster than ever.

  • Lightweight
  • Great colour options

  • Not stiff enough for more aggressive riders.
