Why we chose the Northwave Domain Snowboard Boots: A freeride classic with cutting edge tech.

Freeriding fans of Northwave have flocked to the Domain, season after season. It’s one of the toughest, most responsive boots in the world. This year the theme continues, with a couple of upgrades to harness even more performance.

New for the upper-level boots is the Biomap Tongue. Designed to line up perfectly with the liners and leave no hollow spots, the asymmetric moulded tongue delivers direct feel and power transmission, making this year’s Domain the most responsive to date.

Laces are great for getting a custom fit, but let’s face it, they’re a pain in the ass. With Northwave’s Superlace system you get the best of both worlds. You still have all the control of adjusting the upper and lower sections of the boot independently, but simply by pulling up on the two-speed lace handles. With Northwave’s open, adjust and lock clamp positions, you can find the exact fit in a matter of seconds.

Hard-charging requires immediate response. Thanks to the Cab5 heel retention and the top shelf TF3 liner, the Domain’s don’t only fit great fresh out the box, but any hollow spots or pressure points can be smoothed out with their best heat mouldable liners.

“All this comfort is backed up with a boot that’s built for abuse”

All this comfort is backed up with a boot that’s built for abuse. Rubber shielding lines the areas of the shell most prone to wear and tear, but have been thermo moulded so as not to affect the boot’s waterproofing. The underside is bolstered up with Northwave’s Double Crossbow outsole with Vibram inserts for grip and stability on those squeaky bum time boot packs.

The Domain has been a staple of the freeride world for multiple seasons now. With this year’s evolution, it looks set to stick around for many more.
