They certainly know their way around a snowboard factory, but the guys at DC are footwear specialists first and foremost. The DC Mutiny takes some inspiration from the brand’s considerable experience in the skate shoe world, resulting in a premium freestyle boot at a head-scratchingly low price.

The liner isn’t DC’s techiest, but it’s impressive nonetheless. It incorporates J-bars to improve ankle support, and features plenty of EVA memory foam that will, in what seems like no time at all, conform to your foot to give you the ultimate fit.
As for the uter, DC’s own lightweight ‘Unilite’ outsole provides the foundation for a medium-flexing boot that can turn its hand to just about anything. There’s plenty of board feel, as well as grippy rubber for extra traction where you need it.
The DC Mutiny boasts a classic lace, which is anchored further down the boot at the ankle in order to ensure the shell sits exactly where it should. Heel lift is therefore reduced, although thanks to the internal harness it was never going to be a problem to begin with. The combination of the two features means that you’ll definitely be safe, not sorry.
In the bang-for-buck stakes the DC Mutiny is hard to beat, especially if you mostly ride park.
