The Burton Ion is the Vermont-based brand’s flagship boot, instantly recognisable and not likely to disappear any time soon. It’s no all-rounder, however – stiff and serious, only confident riders need apply.
That’s not to say you can’t get tricky with it; the Burton Ion is the preferred boot of Danny Davis, and it’s carried him to multiple X Games medals. Naturally its construction is designed to handle the big impacts that come hand-in-hand with pipe riding and big jumps. The sole features ‘ReBounce’ cushioning, which uses an extra layer of cushioning right under your foot without trading off too much boardfeel.
“If you’re worried about excess sweat, don’t be; moisture-wicking material keeps you dry as well as toasty”
Then there’s its size – Burton reckon that the footprint of the Ion is equivalent to a size down of a typical boot. That’ll go down well with larger-footed riders who would otherwise have to get a wider stick to avoid excessive toe drag, but it’s a bonus for everyone really. Also, every size (and even half-size) of the Burton Ion has specifically-made components, so there’s no compromise whatsoever on getting the right fit.
