Travis Rice remains one of Union’s shining lights, and we expect his contribution to the upcoming team movie to be something special. The Union T.Rice has had the Wyoming legend’s involvement at every stage of its design, and the 2016/17 incarnation looks set to hit new heights.
The ‘TR Hybrid’ highback is exclusive to the Union T.Rice Pro, and is adorned with Trav’s signature three-teardrop logo. Using both carbon and nylon, he’s come up with something that nice and light, yet durable enough to handle Alaskan spines. Also brand new is the toe strap, which appear only on Union’s more high-end bindings.
The baseplate has extra strength, and comes with a lifetime warranty. It’s also canted, so the fatigue that comes with smashing the backcountry all day is partially alleviated by having your ankle and knee joints in better alignment.
It should go without saying that this model is pretty stiff, so casual riders might want to consider something else. However, if you’re serious about snowboarding and not afraid to take risks, the Union T.Rice is bound to elevate your game.
