Why should Mum and Dad get all the good toys? Especially when half the kids out there are better than them anyway. Thankfully, the guys from NOW took advantage of a generally underrepresented area of the kid’s market and have the pocket-sized premium product. The NX Gen bindings are the missing link not only between your child’s snowboard and boots, but their unconditional love for you.

No shortcuts have been taken here. You get all the same tech, just shrunk down for VAT-free shoe sizes. The Skate Tech works exactly the same, by positioning a pivot point around a central post where the binding’s hanger can very slightly rock between the two contact bushings on either end of the bindings. NOW bindings offer a much smoother ride, which means groms can go for longer without getting painful feet.

You get the same Sieva heel straps, minimalist toe straps and Flex Hinge highback as in the adult versions, only they’ve had extra material taken so those mini shredders can put their rubber bones to the test and show Mum and Dad how to really tweak a grab.

Whether or not Santa will be delivering these this Christmas comes down less to rider ability and more towards budget, as these will benefit the riding of every kid who straps into them.

Tester’s Verdict 2018/19

Whitelines Grom Team

Ella

“I loved these bindings; I could feel the flex and movement straight away. They felt safe because I could get the board up on the edge without feeling that I was completely on my toes.”

Lightning

“I really liked these bindings, I felt a tiny bit of flexibility, not much, but they felt good. The straps were easy to use even with my big mitts on, and they were really comfortable.”

Dad’s Comments

“These have really easy tool free adjustment for straps and forward lean. You have to be careful with the rubber shims that dampen the ride thopugh, as they can fall out when the bindings aren’t bolted to the board.

But essentially the NxGen bindings have all the features of the adult NOW models, packed into a kids’ design. Highly recommend them.”
