Burton Mission 2019-2020 Snowboard Bindings Review

UPDATE: Check out our review of the Burton Mission Snowboard Bindings for 2020/2021 by clicking here.

This versatile all-rounder has pleased the feet of plenty of men for more than 15 years now. The Burton Mission is a reliable snowboard binding, and like most Burton bindings, it comes in both the Re:Flex and EST versions.

If you’re a devoted Burton shredder, you’ll be fine with the Mission EST bindings. The EST’s are solemnly compatible with Burton’s classic channel system, so you won’t be able to attach this version to any other mounting system. However, if you’d like to have the opportunity to shred something other than a Burton board, you’ll be better off buying the Re:Flex version, which is compatible with all the major mounting systems out there. Other than that, there aren’t any major differences between the two.

“The medium flex together with the “solid on the inside but flexy on the outside” highbacks make the Missions ideal for daily all-mountain riding”

The medium flex together with the “solid on the inside but flexy on the outside” highbacks make the Missions ideal for daily all-mountain riding. With a single component constructed highback you can expect to get a responsive ride. The living hinge technology gives you the chance to adjust your highback rotation and forward lean according to your liking. So, whether it’s cutting edge carves or loose park laps that you prefer, the bindings can be adjusted to whatever you’re in the mood for.

Burton’s legendary Mission bindings are a reliable option for anyone who’s looking for a versatile binding to take you through your carves, jumps and backcountry missions.

Tester’s Verdict

Al NasmythFreedom Snowboarding

“I was a bit skeptical about how much better the EST system would work with channel boards but I could really feel the difference. I was using some Burton Re-Flex style bindings first (screws and plates) and then switched and found the Missions more responsive and precise.

“The striped back straps were comfy and slick, and the footbed cushioning comfy”

The striped back straps were comfy and slick, and the footbed cushioning comfy. I’d say they have a medium flex all round, not stiff enough that you get flung from edge to edge and not so soft that your knee has to touch the ground just to get on the toe edge.

What I did find was when I adjusted the high back angle to match my normal Burton bindings it was a much steeper angle for the same setting.”

When I ride a pair of bindings, I don’t want to feel them when I shred. It should be a seamless interface between you and your board.

“Ultimately is one of the most comfortable bindings on the market today”

A lot of bindings give me foot cramp but the Burton Mission doesn’t; it holds me in securely, offers great power transfer, and ultimately is one of the most comfortable bindings on the market today.

With a medium flex they are great for intermediate-to-advanced riders who want a pair that won’t let them down. They’re available in loads of banging colours this year – including our favourite, hot pink.”
