Lib Tech Travis Rice Pro Horsepower Edition 2015-2016 Snowboard Review

Trav's beast

UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2017/2018 LibTech Travis Rise Pro here

TESTERS CHOICE – 10 Best Wide Snowboards 2015/16

The Details:

It’s been relatively quiet on the Travis front recently – aside from the occasional GoPro clip, there aren’t many clues as to how his new movie project is shaping up – but he’s still part of the brickwork at Lib Tech. The ‘Horsepower’ edition of his main pro model is a souped-up beast of a thing, designed to do absolutely everything.

The shorter lengths of the Lib Tech Travis Rice Pro Horsepower have a blunted nose and tail, while the longer ones have powder-ready points. Both will still handle the whole mountain, though, especially with the rocker/camber combo that bends up at the waist for increased float in powder, and grips the piste thanks to camber sections underfoot.

Travis’ signature variation on Lib’s wavy Magne-Traction edges add to the hardpack performance, so you can rip this harder than a lot of true twins.

While you get all of this on the original version, the Horsepower augmentations include a stronger, lighter core and a more environmentally-friendly topsheet construction. There’s a premium to pay, but the increased performance is matched by increased strength.

Simply put, even if you take no prisoners both on and off the piste, there’s a fair chance that the Lib Tech Travis Rice Pro Horsepower will outlive you.

TESTER’S VERDICT:
James Stentifordstentifordsnowboarding.co.uk

“Lighter than the standard Lib Tech Travis Rice Pro, if there truly is one board that can do everything then this is it.

Stiff enough to be comfortable staightlining away from your sluff in Alaska, but playful enough for a jib around by the side of the piste on a slushy day in Avoriaz.

The camber sections at the nose and tail mean that it’s got plenty of pop for any fence-ollieing challenge, and at the same time the rocker between the feet lets you get away with murder on kickers.

Just like Travis, this board is an all-round beast.”
