Burton Lip-Stick 2015-2016 Women’s Snowboard Review

The Details:

The Burton Lip-Stick has been around for a few years, gaining and maintaining popularity thanks to its one-board-to-rule-them-all credentials. Last year it was changed into a true twin shape, but make no mistake; this is for much more than just lapping the park.

The flat profile, while not as suitable for charging and carving as classic camber, allows for both while also being a bit more versatile across the whole mountain. You won’t have to be quite as on your guard with nasty edge catches when getting spontaneous on the piste, especially when you factor in the subtle rocker sections at the contact points.

Those will also help with keeping the nose up in the backcountry, as will the ‘Side Effects’ shape tweak. Basically the nose and tail have been subtly elongated, meaning that the board will ride like a normal twin on the piste but benefits from a little added float when you take it into the powder.

And of course, taking it for a blast through the park is a good idea too. With nothing off the table, just about any kind of rider can get on with the Lipstick.

TESTER’S VERDICT:
Sarah Fishsubvertboardstore.com

“This has changed quite a lot in the last few years, and it’s a lot stiffer than before. It’s mainly aimed at all-mountain riders, such as Kimmy Fasani.

You’ve got to be on your game when charging as the flat base feels a little loose at times, but it’s more for the backcountry anyway. It’s a lot like the Trick Pony in Burton’s men’s range, so it’d be great for sending off a powder booter.

And not that I want to go on about a board’s graphic, but the scratch ‘n’ sniff Fab lolly is so nice!”
