Burton Blunt 2015-2016 Snowboard Review

Simply put

The Details:

Like their Clash, the Burton Blunt is found at the ‘low’ end of the Burton stable. However, both tick so many of the right boxes for beginners and an intermediates alike that neither can be classed as a purely entry-level board. With slightly more tech, the Blunt is one that the newbie with long-term progression goals simply has to consider.

This year it’s been upgraded with a hybrid ‘Flying V’ profile, replacing last year’s flat version. The camber sections at the feet will help with the initiation of a beginner’s first turns, as well as an intermediate’s minute corrections on the way in to a park feature. Meanwhile the rocker bend at the waist makes for fun presses on piste and extra float in deeper snow.

Thanks to the twin shape and sintered base (a new addition for the 2014/15 season that’s been carried over), this has the chops for both freestyle and high-speed charging.

Naturally it isn’t as tough or as light as the decks higher up in Burton’s range, but it more than meets the needs of all but the most demanding rider. The Blunt may be cheap, but it’ll give you several reasons to be cheerful.

TESTER’S VERDICT:
Duthie – Whitelines

“This was never going to be the most exciting board in the world, but when you consider the low cost the Blunt definitely punches above its weight.

The sintered base is very quick, although when you really max it out be sure to keep your concentration as it can be a little jittery. That’s most likely due to the profile, but the trade-off is that the Blunt floats nicely in the powder – especially since it’s a true twin – and presses on the piste are great fun.

It might not have masses of pop, but there’s more than enough for most people’s needs.”
