Snowboard Accessories and Apparel @ ISPO 2019

What would snowboarding be without all the essential accessories and apparel? ISPO 2019 gave us a sneak peak into what to expect from next years socks, belts, gloves, apparel and “I don’t know how to categorise these” gogglesocs. Down below we’ve listed our accessory and apparel highlights from ISPO 2019.

The collab trend is still going strong for 2019-2020, and it’s cool to see so many brands getting involved in givebacks and partnering up with charities to promote sustainable and ethical practices in the industry.

Arcade 2019/20

Arcade, the go-to belt of every snowboarder. Who would have thought, after our first reaction back in the days “A snowboard belt!?” – yes, we might have been a bit rushed with our opinion back then.

Anyhow, Arcade is back, and they’re growing. What caught our eye this year was the stylish leather Padre belt – finally, there’s a comfy belt that looks good enough to wear to your cats christening. No but honestly, these belts are on point, and we can’t wait to get our hands on their women’s collection.

As for another great collab this year, Arcade Belts and Sherpa Adventure Gear have partnered on producing a Himalayan inspired belt, with the idea of every belt sold, $5 will be donated to the Sherpa Adventure Gear Fund and thus providing education to the children of Nepal.

gogglesoc 2019/20

Finally, someone carried out the idea of combining socks with goggles – gogglesoc. Yes! Gogglesocs are meant to be placed on your snowboarding goggles so that they don’t scratch, and to be fair, for the ones who’ve lost their goggle case or bag this might be worth looking into. Wouldn’t we rather cover our £200 goggle lenses with a sock than get them scratched? We know we would. It’s like having a cheap insurance on your goggles, for only £14.

Not only are they cheap, but they are in fact very eco-friendly. The microfibers used in the gogglesoc production are woven from recycled plastic bottles, so remember to recycle plastic in order to keep gogglesoc going and the environment happy.

Holden 2019/20

Holden, the outerwear brand to wear on and beyond the mountain. These guys know what they are doing, making solid snowboard jackets – both shell and insulated – with unique designs that work both for the slopes and as streetwear. There’s a bit of a twist in their outerwear designs, which makes Holden stand out from the mainstream brands producing technical jackets.

Our definite favourites this year were the down shorts and leggings – imagine a minus 10-degree day in the mountains and taking that chairlift up, without having to freeze your bum of – what a treat!

Check out all the cool things to expect from Holden next year below.

Function over fashion? Fashion meets function? Fuck knows, but it’ll keep your cheeks warm.

Oakley 2019/20

Often we tend to forget that this best-seller of goggles and helmets also makes outerwear. Well, keeping the quality high here as well, Oakley’s got some cool stuff coming out next season. The smock-style jacket isn’t one we see too often from other brands in the industry, but Oakley’s got next season’s look dialled.

Patagonia 2019/20

Patagonia, the brand that sets the sustainability standards other brands should follow. Next year all of their waterproof shells offer 100% performance, are 100% Fair Trade sewn and 100% of them use recycled-material.

What’s new on the apparel side, then? Patagonia is renowned for blazing its own trail, but features great quality with a timeless look and colours that might sometimes be a bit out there. This year, the Macro Puff is new, which is the beefed-up version of the Micro Puff. It follows the same quality standards as the rest of Patagonia apparel, but will appeal to those looking for a more relaxed cut and doesn’t need to be accessorised with Cliff Bars and crampons to look at home in the mountains.

POW Gloves 2019/20

Pow gloves got some new colours going for their leather range, so whoever didn’t find their perfect match in years gone by, might get lucky now.

Collabs were big at ISPO this year, and of course POW got their share of it. You’ll be finding loads of POW gloves on the market next year designed by various talented artists representing their unique style.

Two other favourites of ours were the All Day gloves, that came in different models for both men and women, and the Pocket Glove, the perfect place to stash your, umm, gummy bears.

Stance 2019/20

Who knew socks could be so cool? I mean, we all love a fresh pair of socks to roll up our feet but Stance has created a new kind of love towards socks that we couldn’t even have though was possible.

What’s new for this year? Stance have renamed their Park socks as All Mountain, since it’s what they’re made for. Same sock, same great quality, same rad designs, only now those who like to keep both feet firmly on terra firma won’t feel like such a fraud when they wear them. Expect to see these ones flying off the shelves pretty fast in 2019-2020.

When it comes to Stance collabs this year, our last years favourite with Crab Grab will continue to live on. We also got to see the pro collabs, one with Sage Kotsenburg and another one with Louif Paradis.
