GoPro to Launch ‘Fusion’ 5.2K VR Camera

While GoPro‘s Fusion announcement will still leave many of the keenest fans waiting until the end of the year, and we haven’t actually seen much more than a glimpse of the camera body yet, there’s no doubt that this is another big move from the action camera company worth looking at.

Following in the tracks of brands like Nikon and increasing 360 vid playability on platforms like Facebook and Youtube, the Fusion enables what users would have previously had to pay for multiple cameras to create – full 360 degree videos, but with an added twist.

“Thanks to ‘OverCapture’, filmers could find that they won’t need to frame their subject, or worry about missing any of the action”

The additional claims for Fusion include what GoPro call ‘OverCapture’ based on the idea that a filmer could actually use the new camera to shoot without having to frame their subject – instead using editing software to frame shots afterwards, without worrying about capturing all the action.

Full specs are limited at the moment, but GoPro are claiming 5.2K resolution at 30fps for starters, further news on the subject as and when it becomes available.

Professional users can apply to participate in the pilot programme here.
