They say: All terrain freestyle fun banana!
We say: This board channels a lot of Mervin’s tech into a women’s-specific stick. With a stiffish flex, it’s designed to be able to handle most of the mountain, but beginners may find it a bit stiff. The ‘Magne-traction’ helps it hold an edge nicely.
Tester says: Good pop, good jumping, advanced board.

About Gnu
- Building boards since: 1977
- HQ: Sequim, WA, USA
- History lesson: This brand can genuinely lay claim to having played a significant role in the history of snowboard development, and continuing to do so to this day. Its founder Mike Olson built his first board in high school in 1977 and soon set up Mervin Manufacturing with his surfing buddy Pete Saari. Shortly afterwards, Olson and Saari began writing the name Gnu on their creations, because, as Olson explained, it was short, punchy, and “I really liked wildebeest”.
- Ridden by: Shred-heads who like their boards to be built by shred-heads, and their brands to be as organic as a bunch of hippies crapping in a field.
