They say: A wolf in sheep’s clothing.
We say: A board aimed at beginners, and kids who want a stick to ride week-in, week-out on their dryslope that they don’t have to worry too much about trashing. Not the most advanced stick, but then you don’t really need that if you’re starting out.
Tester says: Handled really well, rode switch nicely and felt a solid ride.

About Contraband

  • Building boards since: 2010
  • HQ: Manchester, UK
  • History lesson: As well as being the youngest brand on this list, Contraband are also the only one to be based in the UK. The long-term dream of two UK riders, Contraband has its roots firmly implanted in the dryslopes and domes around Manchester. Their bases are covered in the words ‘Keep the Faith’, and their catalogue features quotes from the Stone fookin’ Roses. Tells you everything you need to know really.
  • Ridden by: No nonsense northerners who like a good shred and a pint of Boddingtons in between shifts down t’ pit. And anyone who’s properly proud of our incredible UK-based scene, and wants to show it.
