Forum’s new movie #FORUM has just popped up online for streaming – according to their description this is an “exclusive viral sneak peek” so we’re not exactly sure how long this thing is going to stay online for. Probably worth getting it watched before it disappears then which is exactly what we’re gonna do right. About. Now!
UPDATE: we’ve been informed that the movie will be online until sometime on Thursday so that gives you a little more time to check it out. And if you haven’t yet, what are you waiting for? From Andreas Wiig’s massive opener to Pat Moore’s second final section in two years, this is one of the heaviest full length movies to have dropped so far this season:
Wiig’s double cork off the tree is a bit of an eye opener and judging by the bail section in the credits took a fair few tries to stomp. Elsewhere he’s as consistent as Mitt Romney is at being an idiot, stomping a barrage of huge doubles in the backcountry. Austen Sweetin and Cam Pierce’s joint part is, surprise surprise, a really heavy street section that blends amplitude with technicality in roughly equal measures. Jake Welch kicks off his part by dropping far enough a massive double pillow line to disturb the little gremlins running around in hell, before stomping a ton of tricks in both the backcountry and the streets. Sure, he doesn’t quite have the same degree of technicality as the other rail specialists on the team but as an all rounder, he still sends it.
Youngbloods Mario Kaeppeli and Daniel Ek both have impressive sections with Mario putting down a frontide 1440 on a massive sölden kicker and Daniel Ek stomping a double cork over a cat track in Squamish, BC. Nic Sauve is the token rail destroyer putting down a huge variety of tricks all over Quebec, which is rad – for the different spots if nothing else. The dude certainly loves gapping over fences onto rails and is handy at it.
Pat Moore claims his second final part in a row and in our opinion it’s well deserved. There isn’t as much footage as the epic two song part in last year’s Vacation, but the tricks he stomps here are still progressive and dare we say it again: ridiculously heavy. Pat Moore is similar to Jake Welch in that he’s very much an all-rounder – more than capable of putting out a banging backcountry part as well as showing the young guns a thing or two in the streets. The real difference is that he really excels at both – neither side of his riding is weaker than the other.
Overall, #FORUM is impressive. There’s very little bullshit and it’s more or less banger after banger set to a very rock and roll/metal soundtrack – a refreshing change amongst all the indie rock, hip hop and questionable electro that we’ve grown used to in many current snowboard films. We don’t think it’s quite on par with Vacation, which was an absolute belter of a movie but for what it’s worth, it still get’s us pumped for winter and reminds us that the Forum team is still one of the strongest freestyle teams (as a whole) in the scene today.Even without Peter Line, Stevie Bell and Alek Oestreng.
