Do you like quality snowboarding? Edits filled only with hammers? Powder? Gnarly street?

Over the last couple of years Adidas have assembled one of the heaviest snowboarding teams going and after last year’s – shall we say, hard to digest Welcome series – they’ve gone and done something wonderful with it.

The first of three parts in this web series – Nomad – takes the whole team to Japan. Kazu Kokubo, Eric Jackson, Jake Blauvelt and Helen Schettini travelled to the pillowy, powdery mecca of Hokkaido whereas the street team – Forest Bailey, Keegan Valaika and Louif Paradis – headed over to Sapporo.

The powder part is packed full of huge air, slow spins and tweaked grabs, absolute perfection for all the anti-contest, Jones brigade. Think methods, floated back threes and cab 180s that would impress even Elias.

The street is similar, but showcases a less well known side of the Japan scene. So much snow falls that urban snowboarding comes even closer to skateboarding: you can ride down the street as if you were on wheels and set up times become almost instant, perfect for the Thrasher lovin’ hipster types of Bailey and Valaika.

But the stand out here has to be the new kid on the Adidas block: Louif. He only gets three shots, but the latter two are two of the gnarliest gaps you’re likely to see this year, both landed more solidly than Arnold Schwarzenegger protein-riddled morning turds in the bowl.
