Winter X-Games 2013: Louif Paradis wins Real Snow

This year’s X Games Real Snow edits were by far the best we’ve seen to date. Released back at the start of the month, we were pretty flabbergasted (what a wonderful word) by the ridiculously high standard of urban riding in pretty much all of the entries. If you haven’t seen ’em yet, well, shame on you (you’ve got some catching up to do).

Pat Moore stomped some massive wallrides, Eero Ettala put down a huge switch double backflip over a skate bowl and relative newcomer Frank April impressed us with his creativity and tech. The public vote was as heated as the presidential race with some incredibly tight matchups – most notably between Bode Merrill and Dan Brisse who were pretty much locked in a 50/50 deadlock right until the final whistle, with Brisse just emerging triumphant. In the end it came down to a matchup between Frank April and Eero Ettala and voting remains open until Sunday – give them both another watch and a vote – it’s another incredibly tight matchup!

In addition to the fan favourite is the official Real Snow top three. Decided by a panel of judges, bronze, silver and gold medals are awarded to the rider/editor who impressed the most with their edit. In the end, last year’s winner Dan Brisse had to settle for silver while last year’s silver medallist, Louif Paradis got the all-important nod this year. Bode Merrill’s edit, which, was one of our personal favourites was awarded the bronze.

When asked if Louif did anything differently this year to step it up he cooly replied:

Nah, I just did the same thing and, I dunno, for some reason it just worked this year!

Fair do’s we guess. Louif and the other Real Snow competitors will join Dylan Alito, Forrest Bailey, Jaeger Bailey, Jonah Owen, Ryan Paul, Dylan Thompson and Nick Visconti in the Snowboard Street competition which goes down at 3pm EST which, if we’re not mistaken is 8pm UK time.
