No real surprises here, all the big dogs chomped their way through the course and have set their sights on finals day. The Cinderella story of the event was quite possibly Shaun White, who after a pretty shaky first run came out swinging on his second to jump straight up into fourth place throwing down some of his signature moves, including the Skyhook. This man thrives under pressure, he knew exactly what he had to do to rattle the top 3’s cages.
Louis Vito, (who turned pro the same year Valentino Guseli was born??!), just missed out on a spot in the finals. Some huge riding from the aforementioned Guseli could see him squeeze his way onto the podium if he manages to go clean and rely on a few mistakes from other riders. Expect a dogfight from Scotty James and Ayumu Hirano on finals day, but as we’ve all seen with the Olympics so far, absolutely anything can happen so don’t count anyone out just yet.
