UK rider Katie Ormerod has had the best possible start to her season, winning the Pleasure Jam in Austria.
Still the only female rider to have a double cork in her trick bag, Katie was always going to be a threat this year – and she didn’t even need that to win the Pleasure Jam, breezing through qualifying in 1st place with a cab 540 to backside 720 and staying on top in the finals.
In doing so she relegated Anna Gasser and Elena Koenz, both established stars of the slopestyle contest circuit, to the 2nd and 3rd steps of the podium respectively. The two of them may have to get used to looking up at Katie O this year – as, perhaps, will the likes of Silje Norendal and Jamie Anderson.
In the men’s event, Japan’s Keita Inamura triumphed over the likes of Michael Schaerer and Roope Tonteri. Meanwhile Britain’s Rowan Coultas qualified for the finals in 3rd place and finished in a respectable 10th, meaning he’s off to a flyer in 2015/16 too.
Stay tuned for highlights, but until then we’ll say congrats to Katie O for the biggest win of her career so far. Here’s to many more!
