Anna Gasser won the Dew Tour 2015 slopestyle yesterday, with Spencer O’Brien and Hailey Langland rounding out the podium.
With Silje Norenal injured and Jamie Anderson nowhere to be seen, it was anybody’s to win – and with a stylish, clean first run that included spins in all four directions, Anna was untouchable. Spencer wasn’t far behind with her run, launching a big backside 720 but only just keeping enough speed through her run to scrape her last hit, a frontside 5 off the toes, past the knuckle.
15-year-old Hailey stepped up to some of the bigger rails, has a mean backside lipslide and styled the hell out of a switch back 1 and front 3, but with only one 540 in a run that was relatively safe by her standards, she’d have to settle for 3rd.
Meanwhile Katie Ormerod did well to qualify for the final, and even stomped her first ever cab 900 in competition on her second run. Her first score stood, though, and in the end it was 5th place for Katie. Given that she’s still only 18, and missed most of last season with a knee injury, it’s fair to assume that this is only the beginning.
