Red Bull Recharged looked crazy as shit. A mash up of halfpipe, slopestyle and transition riding, it brought together some of the world’s best riders to duke it out on the custom build course.
The brainchild of halfpipe don Ben Ferguson and slopestyle wunderkind Mark McMorris RBR has been 2 years in the making. From early designs made from clay, to composite sketches, to eventually getting the course built by the shapers up at Mammoth. The beauty of running their own event was that the riders could shred the course and offer constant feedback on what they thought might need tweaking or changing, and the shapers could jump in the CAT and adjust the course.
The teams were stacked with shit hot riders, each with their own strengths and style of riding. When you get this many insane riders together it becomes a melting pot of creativity and energy that translates to some of the sickest riding we’ve seen in a while. The riders all seemed to enjoy the more casual nature of the event, after travelling all winter competing, being at a low-stakes affair must be a pretty fun way to cap off your season.
