Arguably the first Eastern bloc rider to come onto the international scene, Marko grew up in Slovenia. With limited riding opportunities at home, he ventured to eastern Austria to hone his craft.
Grilo was a relative unknown when he appeared in David Benedek’s 91 Words For Snow, but once the movie was released he didn’t stay anonymous for long. This – plus his contribution to The Gap Session – cemented his reputation as an amazing all-round talent who also knows how to have a laugh.
The decision to give him his own web series was a no-brainer, and Grilosodes remains one of the most entertaining shred shows on the internet. It even took him to Dubai and the Halifax dry slope!
He’s be no means been a contest regular, but when he’s dipped his toe in he’s usually done pretty terrifically – even winning the Billabong Air & Style back in 2011. He’s also thrown his hat in to the ring at London Freeze and X Games Europe.
Away from snowboarding his priority is raising his son – and it looks like he’s doing a bang-up job…
