We’ve just heard that the latest installment of the huge Tony Hawk video game series is going to include snowboarding as well as skateboarding. Details are still scarce, but it’s anticipated that Tony Hawk: Shred will use the same peripheral ‘skateboard’ controller as his last game, Ride, and which was universally derided by critics (have to say, we had a go on the demo at last year’s Metro show and it was indeed whack). As the gaming-geeks at this website put it, “if you have the board from Tony Hawk: Ride it’ll be great to dust it off, set it up, play Shred on it for about ten minutes and then remember why it was collecting dust in the first place.”
Still, the makers are promising to ‘tighten up’ the controversial controller, and judging by these screen-shots the graphics won’t be half-bad. With Shaun White soon to release a skateboarding game of his own, the battle for the games market appears to be on.
