We caught up with Gigi, who explains just what makes the ATV his first pick out the board bag, wherever in the world he finds himself riding.

Gigi, the ATV is your go-to board. Why?

Here you are riding Japan’s goods… tell us how the ATV treats you in those conditions?
In the pic here by my good friend Erik Hoffman taken in Japan I’m grabbing slob on a 720 to powder turn and the ATV’s my board of choice, allowing me to guide through the tight trees while guaranteeing a floated landing in Japan’s light and deep white gold.

Tell us more about the ATV, how did it come to being?
The ATV is the original board I conceptualised and produced under the Slash label. Over the years I’ve fine-tuned it to feature best-in-class material composition pairing a durable sintered base with our ‘Buried Treasure’ blend of carbon fibre, Kevlar and basalt reinforcements shooting energy to and from the edges and tips while reducing weight in the board’s wooden core and providing torsional softness between the feet.

Being your board of choice means it sees a lot of action! Aptly named the ATV (All Terrain Vehicle), just how does it help across different terrain?
When jumping I need a board that can handle whatever may present itself. For me, it’s the ATV; my second home, my base, my platform. I don’t yet consider myself to be the old fart who only points it and sticks in a steezy turn for the camera. The ATV gives me the confidence I need when psyching myself for hitting something new, something big. I know I’m about to hit full send and I also know sometimes the G-Force from doing so can launch me further and spin me more than I intended, but I rest assured knowing the ATV’s directional twin shape and far out contact points will forgive my flawed plan and come to the rescue when landing at speed, facing the wrong way! I don’t always have a plan, but I always maintain Clear Vision and the ATV helps me hit the sweet spot (almost!) every time!
