Let’s face it, we could all do with a little good news right now. Thankfully we’ve got just the thing in store: how would you like to win a brand spanking new snowboard? We’ve teamed up with snowboard legend and owner of Slash, Gig Rüf, who is offering one lucky rider the chance to win a 156 ATV. All you have to do to enter is sign up to their mailing list and Whitelines’ Friday Fix here:

By signing up to the newsletter you agree to our Terms and Conditions, our Privacy Statement and our Competition Rules. The winner will be picked at random on Monday 1st June, 2020.

As a truly rider-owned company, Gigi designed the ATV himself and it has become a go-to snowboard for confident all-mountain shredders. It’s pure snowboarding with a modern twist; its Slash Identity shape saves material and weight and also features a full tip-to-tail camber, meaning it’ll stand upright without tipping over, like regular rounded boards do. You can read our full review and verdict of the Slash ATV here.

We caught up with Gigi, who explains just what makes the ATV his first pick out the board bag, wherever in the world he finds himself riding.

Gigi, the ATV is your go-to board. Why?
The ATV’s my trusted steed and it’s full of life! Its deep sidecut generates swift slashes and the subtle traction bump bites through rough snow. Tried and tested, the ATV’s the best all-mountain board in the world. Clear Vision for all who ride her!

Here you are riding Japan’s goods… tell us how the ATV treats you in those conditions?
In the pic here by my good friend Erik Hoffman taken in Japan I’m grabbing slob on a 720 to powder turn and the ATV’s my board of choice, allowing me to guide through the tight trees while guaranteeing a floated landing in Japan’s light and deep white gold.

Tell us more about the ATV, how did it come to being?
The ATV is the original board I conceptualised and produced under the Slash label. Over the years I’ve fine-tuned it to feature best-in-class material composition pairing a durable sintered base with our ‘Buried Treasure’ blend of carbon fibre, Kevlar and basalt reinforcements shooting energy to and from the edges and tips while reducing weight in the board’s wooden core and providing torsional softness between the feet.

“The ATV gives me the confidence I need when psyching myself for hitting something new, something big”

Being your board of choice means it sees a lot of action! Aptly named the ATV (All Terrain Vehicle), just how does it help across different terrain?
When jumping I need a board that can handle whatever may present itself. For me, it’s the ATV; my second home, my base, my platform. I don’t yet consider myself to be the old fart who only points it and sticks in a steezy turn for the camera. The ATV gives me the confidence I need when psyching myself for hitting something new, something big. I know I’m about to hit full send and I also know sometimes the G-Force from doing so can launch me further and spin me more than I intended, but I rest assured knowing the ATV’s directional twin shape and far out contact points will forgive my flawed plan and come to the rescue when landing at speed, facing the wrong way! I don’t always have a plan, but I always maintain Clear Vision and the ATV helps me hit the sweet spot (almost!) every time!
