The TTR Tour kicks off with Billabong Ante Up

Believe it or not, the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour is getting ready to kick of the 2010/2011 season with the 5 Star Billabong Ante Up big air event going down at Camp of Champions on June 26th in Whistler.

The 5 Star event has a premiere lineup including big timers such as Torstein Horgmo, Scotty Lago and Chas Guldemond making for one solid competition. The riders will be competing for a share in the $50,000 prize purse, which to be fair would be quite nice. Although it’s not going to be a walk in the park for the group of world class riders, snowboarding has taken a giant step forward in recent months, with Torstein Horgmo claiming the first ever landed triple cork.
Will the Ante Up and its 85-foot-step over kicker be the setting for the first triple cork in a competition?

The organizers have set aside 5 days for the competition to take place, just incase the weather conditions aren’t perfect- so no excuses.

Getting a head-start in the 2010/11 Swatch TTR points race

The Billabong Ante Up is the first major event for the 2010/11 TTR World Tour season which will give riders the opportunity to rack up some valuable 5 Star Swatch TTR points before the tour heads down to the Southern Hemisphere. It’s not until later in the season when the British riders get their chance to prove themselves against the North Americans.

For the riders attending the Ante Up, they know all too well that a good result in the first 5 Star event combined with their 09/10 season-end bonus points, will place them highly when going into 2010/11 season.

All the action from the Blackcomb glacier can be viewed live via webcast at www.billabongpro.com  beginning at 11 pm CET on June 26, 2010 (depending on weather).
