Kevin Pearce, who put himself in a coma after a training accident on New Year’s Eve, is apparently recovering well. His family, who have been updating the facebook page Well Wishes to our Friend Kevin Pearce with updates on his progress, posted an encouraging report today.
Doctors are apparently well-pleased with the steps KP is making towards recovery, with the head of the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Program saying: “We could not be more delighted and inspired by Kevin’s progress. Kevin’s treatment team has completed our comprehensive neuro-rehabilitation evaluation, and Kevin is actively engaged in a TBI treatment program, specially tailored to his needs.”
Kevin is apparently having speech therapy sessions, occupational therapy and “aquatic therapy sessions” (whatever they are) and is responding well to the treatment. The doctor added: “Due to his consistent hard work, his walking, short-term memory, and stamina are all improving. Kevin’s progress is very encouraging.” KP’s mum reckons that Kevin is in “excellent hands” at the hospital and said the family is “thrilled” with the way he’s recovering.
Let’s hope we see him out and about again soon. Get well quickly dude!
