Burton Flight Attendant 2015-2016 Snowboard Review

Ready for take-off

UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2017/2018 Burton Flight Attendant here

The Burton Flight Attendant touched down last season, endorsed by backcountry freestyle wizard Nicolas Müller. While he may have moved on to pastures new, the board remains part of the B’s line. We’re not surprised; after all, it was a hit in 2014/15 and looks set to retain its popularity this winter.

It shares some similarities with the new Burton Tough Cat in that it’s a directional freeride board with triax glass, carbon reinforcement, camber at the back foot and rocker towards the nose. However, it’s got a slightly softer flex that’s more suitable for freestyle than it is for hard charging.

It’s also got a slight taper in the tail, meaning that at slower speeds the tail will sink into the pow a bit more, so taking tricky lines through the trees will be that much easier. It’s not so tapered that you couldn’t take it down switch, though, so embrace those spins and pow butters whenever you can.

And that’s really what the Flight Attendant is made for; while it’d be wasted in the park, it’s still built to go big and rack up the tricks – but in the backcountry rather than in the resort.

Go point this at a cliff, pillow line or natural spine and it’ll guarantee in-flight entertainment.

TESTER’S VERDICT:
Sam McMahon – Whitelines

“I was glad to see the Flight Attendant still included in the Burton quiver this year, as it’s one of the great boards of recent times.

It’s definitely a powder board, but one that’s about as ‘all-mountain’ as a powder board can be, equally as happy charging faces as it is weaving through trees and crushing pillow lines – and it even rips on piste!

It’s just fantastic for going fast between spots where you can get playful with it. I’ve owned one of these in the past, and after seeing this one hold up just as well I’m sorely tempted to treat myself to another.”
