Shape, Profile and Sidecut

In previous years, the T Rice Pro has come in two different shapes- a pointy and a blunt. A few years back, they combined the two to come out with their ‘plunt’ outline for a best of both worlds approach and another classic T.Ricky portmanteau. The T Rice Pro is a twin in all regards, no setback or taper to speak of and it’s new shape is completely balanced for freestyle ripping.

Using their super versatile hybrid C2 profile, once again Lib are bringing the best of both worlds to the table. Central rocker zone to aid with float and loosen up turn initiation, with camber zones either side to tip and grip on piste and deliver the pop and precision we all crave when we’re going mach 10.

If you’ve ridden any Mervin product in the past, you’ll know exactly what their patented Magnetraction edge profile does. If not, then you’ve come to the right place. 7 strategically placed bumps sit along down the sidecut to increase the amount of contact points with the snow, they claim it turns ice into powder and we’re not sure we’d go quite that far but it certainly does help with traction when the conditions are sketchy.

Construction and Materials

It’d be remiss to suggest that any snowboard is completely environmentally friendly, but Lib Tech boards are all manufactured in the USA at their zero hazardous waste facility. As much as possible they include recycled materials, like their eco-sublimated bio beans topsheets and they try to include naturally occurring fibres where possible.

Core-wise the T Rice Pro uses their dual wood, aspen and paulownia blend. Combining strength and power, without such a weight penalty as other options. Triax fibreglass with basalt stringers sandwich the core, for a reactive ride that’ll eat up some of the chatter when you’re hooning it and take some of the slap out of those heavy landings.

All in all, with the T. Rice Pro you’ve got a board that performs well across a multitude of terrain. It’s not as great in the powder as something like the Orca, but it’ll certainly be a great option in the park and on piste, especially when you start bringing freestyle elements to your game.

Pros:

• Few true twins are as well-suited to powder days
• Features top-tier construction that’s less harsh on the planet

Cons:

• It’s pretty full-on with a lot of torsional stiffness, so not really one for cruisey days
