News has just reached Whitelines HQ that yet another shredder has landed a triple cork 1440 and it is…. Sebastien Toutant! At a closed Red Bull session in Squaw Valley, Tahoe, Seb apparently threw down a backside 1440 version of the trick – pretty similar to his best friend and fellow Canadian Mark McMorris’ version. It turns out that Seb actually landed his triple last week, before the young Swiss rookie Pat Burgener stomped the world’s first switch backside 1440 triple, but the footage has yet to be released. The latest news, according to his twitter feed, is that Seb is now trying to nail a frontside triple cork 1260…
Frankly, it was only a matter of time before the ever-smooth Seb joined the exclusive club of triple stompers. I mean this is the kid who makes cab double cork 12s look like they’re front 3s. A lad hailed by UK coach Hamish McKnight as “technically the best snowboarder in the world right now”. So unlike Pat’s this news doesn’t come as a complete surprise. Doesn’t mean we’re not looking forward to seeing the footage though! We’ll keep you posted when it arrives – and in the meantime, you can keep yourself up to date with happenings at Squaw by checking out the regular updates on fellow Red Bull rider Marko Grilc’s blog.
