Burton Lexa 2019-2020 Women’s Snowboard Bindings Review

Why we chose the Burton Lexa Snowboard Bindings: Year after year these things deliver – basically it’s more a question of why wouldn’t we include these?

Burton Lexa, two simple words that represent what are probably the world’s best-known female snowboard bindings. We all know what the drill is with these beauties but if you need to be reminded on why you keep on going back to the Lexas year after year, keep on scrolling.

First of all, why change a winning formula? The guys over at Burton know what they are doing with this solid pair and so, unsurprisingly, the tech for the Burton Lexas remains unchanged for this season. Their medium to stiff flex ensure you can handle speed and fast edge to edge transitions, while also just having a generally fun time fooling around on the piste.

Making the Lexa’s the versatile bindings they are, in addition to their flex rate, is the impact-absorbing gel in the footbed and the asymmetrical ankle strap. The canted and cushioned base is there to dampen heavy impacts, while the supportive heel Hammock in the highbacks provides  excellent comfort.

Adjusting the highbacks is as easy as you could ever want it to be, with a return to action only ever a couple of rotations away.

“The Lexas might be a bit pricier than your average bindings, but rest assured, they are worth every single penny”

Ranking as one of the best tool-less systems out there, Burton’s system here allows for quick and effortless binding adjustment. Adjusting the bindings to your liking really is a piece of cake – powder surfing in the morning followed by park laps in the afternoon, do what you want without ever feeling the need to reach for the toolkit.

The Lexas might be a bit pricier than your average bindings but, rest assured, they are worth every single penny. Invest in these bad boys and you won’t need to worry about getting new bindings anytime soon. They’re that good.

Tester’s Verdict

Stella PenttiWhitelines

“I find myself comparing all the bindings I ride to the Burton Lexas. Not sure if it’s because these were the first proper bindings I rode (after all the hand-me-downs by unknown brands) or if it’s because of the fact that the Lexas are more or less flawless. Whatever the reason may be, there are no better bindings to have as your happy medium.

“I find myself comparing all the bindings I ride to the Burton Lexas”

What I like about the Lexas is that they truly work in any conditions and for any kind of riding while also being ridiculously comfortable at the same time. Despite their brilliance, these aren’t actually my go-to-bindings (plot twist). It’s not that they aren’t great, they really are, they just lack that something extra I like for my riding.

If you want to play it safe though, the Lexas are definitely for you. If you’re looking for something a tiny bit more exciting however you might need to look the other way. The Burton Lexas are like the homecoming queen of any 90s American romcom – spotlessly perfect and envied by everyone but maybe lacking that little bit of personality to keeps things interesting.”

“The Lexa is my go-to binding for any and all situations, I’ve bought several pairs over the years, the flex is perfect for everywhere on the mountain and they have all the features you need, and some you didn’t even realise you needed.

“The milled out ankle strap makes one footed riding a thing of ease”

The fit feels perfect, no pressure on top of the foot at all, and the toe strap really locks in round the front of your boot. I tested the Lexa’s with 3 different boots and regardless of the brand, the fit was ideal. The milled out ankle strap makes one footed riding a thing of ease – you’re able to slot in and out with no effort and no annoying having to kick the strap out of the way after a chairlift.

They’re stiff enough to give you the support when you want to gun it. When riding full gas, I felt like I had the instant response I was looking for. You’re not left high and dry for those cruisy park laps either as they’re playful enough to tweak and poke when you want to. The footbeds are cushioned enough to soak up the chunder as you’re riding, but aren’t so padded that you can’t feel the board properly.

They deliver excellent board feel, and aren’t getting in the way at all, to me they’re the ultimate binding. You’re not conscious that they’re on your feet whilst riding, but you can really feel the difference when they’re not there.”

“The new model of the Burton Lexa is as good as the old ones – great for everything and everyone.

“I honestly think they can work for any level of rider”

When I first started snowboarding I was riding Lexas, and they are the perfect bindings to start with, but they’re also great for when you’re ready to progress. These are no-frills bindings and I honestly think they can work for any level of rider.

Personally these are not my favourites, but there’s nothing wrong with them – they do the job everywhere.”
