“It’s just soft enough to fool around with, but firm enough to be responsive”

The Kilroy Directional has, you guessed it, a directional shape and the elongated nose offers the effortless float you’d expect from it. The tail features a cut out to reduce the volume towards the back of the board, forcing it to sink more in powder to accentuate the nose lift. It isn’t just the snazzy new name that has earned the board a spot in the Whitelines 100 – it’s the simple fact that this truly is a great board.

Remaining true to the Kilroy line, the Kilroy Directional is a camber board through and through, just like its softer brother, the Kilroy Twin. A traditional camber profile provides powerful turns, unmatched pop, precision and impeccable edge hold. In other words, this thing is the dictionary definition of fun.

With a medium flex you can be sure to get the best out of both worlds riding the Kilroy Directional. It’s just soft enough to fool around with, but firm enough to be responsive.

The core is a blend of woods, which work to keep the weight down whilst still retaining premium stability. The Triax Fiberglass used for the snowboard makes it more responsive while also adding a more versatile flex to it. Following in the traditional footsteps of the Burton Squeezebox, you can expect a snappy yet stable ride.

This board has a low profile, with the zones around your feet stiffer than the other parts of the board. These parts direct more energy to both ends of the board giving you more control over the board itself in exchange for minimal effort on your part.

The Burton Kilroy Directional is a playful companion that keeps you going in the right direction. If you’re looking for something playful and sturdy, without requiring a super soft flex, this might as well be the board for you.

Tester’s Verdict

Luke HulmeTignes Spirit Snowboard Shop

“This board is similar to the normal Burton Kilroy park range but thanks to its directional shape it helps to incorporate some more all mountain riding into your norm. It still feels like the normal Kilroy boards but has slightly more length in the nose making it better for carving and giving it slightly more float.

““One thing that really surprised me with this board was how good it was at carving and holding an edge”

It is still undeniably a park board even if its shape looks more freeride orientated. It packs a serious amount of pop which I noticed as soon as I got on it. It is super stable and I really, really, enjoyed getting it in the air. Riding in switch is no problemo, and its twin flex makes it feel almost exactly the same as riding normally.

One thing that really surprised me with this board was how good it was at carving and holding an edge. It felt and performed like a much more carving based board when you really got deep onto its edges. The narrow waist and shorter tail make it lightning fast transitioning between edges.

The Kilroy Directional is really a jack of all trades. If you are a full park rat that wants to get out and about over more of the hill, or are someone looking to progress all over the mountain, I highly recommend this board.”
