We’ve all been there – after slightly overshooting a kicker you’ve landed to flat and been left with shockwaves rippling through your feet. It sucks. And while Salomon haven’t developed landing gear capable of guiding you to the perfect gentle touch down, they have developed Blaster baseplates – little rubber parts joining the heelcup to the baseplate. These lil’ rubber duckies are going to absorb some of the smack from a dodgy landing, slurp up some of the chatter and chunder on a choppy run and even out your ride a little.

The canted footbed has your foot sitting in the binding slightly off kilter and aligns your legs so you get maximum power efficiency as you’re riding. They’re made of an EVA foam, so they’ll be nice and cushy and comfortable for those long days on the hill.
The toe straps are super conformable round the front of your boot and are easily adjustable for the best fit. Padded ankle straps offer extra comfort and support when you’re cranking down. Aluminium buckles on both straps are a nice marriage of weight saving and durability.
Energy transfer is lightening fast thanks to the heelcup design, and you’ll get super rapid edge to edge transitions. A bit of padding round the highback keeps your calves feeling like they’re getting the VIP treatment as you razz around stomping and slashing to your heart’s content.
