Though it’s not always the case, more often than not female snowboarders are better off looking at women’s specific models. Such boards’ design processes have taken into account the on-average lighter, smaller frames of the XX sisterhood and have tailored their constructions accordingly.
Unisex boards with broad size ranges can work equally well, especially for advanced female riders, but even then the waist width or sidecut might not be optimally engineered to their bodies. The good news is that these days there are brands making boards specifically for girls that span a wide range of riding styles and experience levels.

While inevitably there are still a few companies who think the way to a snowboard woman’s heart is through ultra-girly names and/or graphics – no doubt true for some – there are also enough less ‘fabulous’ designs out there now for women who don’t want to be riding a pink unicorn called ‘The Rainbow’.
