The board-builders at Canadian brand Endeavor have put together a small but impressive line of twin-shaped snowboards, differentiated by their profile and tech specs. Of course, they also love powder as much as any of us, as epitomised by the Endeavor Archetype snowboard.

This mid-stiff swallowtail is clearly directional, and even has a slight taper, but it’s not designed purely for tanking. Natural features are the order of the day, thanks to a narrower-than-average divide at the back end.

While you still get plenty of help in deeper snow, there’s also a more rigid platform for popping off. It also reduces how different the Endeavor Archetype feels on piste when compared to a more standard stick.

Extra oomph comes from carbon rods that run right through each half of the tail, and up to the waist. Getting this thing airborne is therefore easy if you give it some welly, and it’ll also stay stable at high speeds. When you hit the pow, however, the relatively flexy nose requires no effort to keep out of trouble.

With a lightweight-but-strong combination of poplar and paulownia in the core, as well as a slick sintered base and shock-absorbing urethane sidewalls, the Endeavor Archetype snowboard feels premium in every sense. Keep that in mind before letting the price put you off.
