The Vimana Scando snowboard bindings were given a bit of refresh last winter, and we definitely liked the results. It’s good news, then, that these are much the same for 2018/19.
Urethane features heavily in the Vimana Scando bindings, but they’re quite different from most of the other, floppy-highbacked models out there that use this miracle material. They’re actually quite stiff, so the urethane – blended with other materials in the mould – appears to have mainly been chosen as a weight-saving measure.

Indeed, the straps on the Vimana Scando bindings are pretty pared back, but despite their lightness you won’t feel anything less than full control. The highback is fairly beefy, allowing you to rail those heelside carves in confidence, and the ribbing on the boot-facing side keeps you comfortable even when things get hairy.
As you have probably gathered by now, Vimana has taken a fairly ‘no nonsense’ approach with the Scando, and sometimes that can look like cutting corners. However, these have been tried, tested and approved, confirming that you don’t need to go overboard in the tech department to make something people can enjoy and trust.
As before, the Vimana Scando bindings are available in both black and white, but there are also a couple of limited edition designs – one for Enni Rukajarvi, one for Brage Richenberg – available too.
