Other than the branding, which has stepped away from typical kid fare – especially on the largest size – there’s not much that’s different about the Union Cadet kids’ snowboard bindings this year. Is that a problem? Not on your life – these get the job done, so there’s no need to tinker with them.
The best thing about the Union Cadet bindings is the adjustability. Unlike most of their competitors, these have a heel cup that can be extended to accommodate a larger boot, when your grom makes the step up in size. Great news for them, as the ride will be improved and toe drag reduced, but even better for parents who can wait longer before buying a new pair.

Nothing about these is basic; the ratchet straps are made of tough-yet-light aluminium, and there’s even an effective forward lean adjustment system for kids who want to give that a try. The baseplate is made of the same ‘Duraflex’ material as most of the adult range (with the same lifetime warranty), and the cushioning is techier than what you’ll find on most kids’ models.
Now available in different colours and a couple of new sizes, expect see Union Cadet bindings around the feet of some of the best young rippers around.
