UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2019/2020 Rome Agent here
The Rome Agent has been around for a long time, and has changed a lot over the years. These days it serves as the signature board of Alek Østreng, a veteran Roman who remains one of the most exciting riders around.
This one is only available in Alek’s preferred size of 155cm, so that rules a lot of snowboarders out. For those who fit the bill, however, the Rome Agent offers up an all-mountain solution with a freestyle focus.

It’s very nearly a true twin, so much so that you can ride this all day in the park as if it were, and the camber profile gives it explosive pop. It’s pretty stiff, so those who like to get spontaneous on rail lines may struggle, but for big hits and locked-in slides this thing is tip top.
The triax fibreglass makes this very responsive from edge to edge, although the 30-degree layup is a little mellower than some versions. When you want to blast around the mountain at high speeds, the Rome Agent is therefore quick to obey without needing to be tamed.
With a high-end sintered base finishing it off, the Rome Agent has got all the hallmarks of a go-anywhere, do-anything board – although if you’re not getting airborne, whether in the park or not, then you’re missing a trick.
