Most boards that call themselves ‘quiver killers’ tend to be in the directional twin mould; built for dynamic riding on piste or pow, but with the option to mix up your stance as you fly off features both man-made and natural. The Salomon Rumble Fish women’s snowboard, however is a different beast.
The Salomon Rumble Fish is a true twin, which immediately gives it an advantage in the freestyle stakes. However, there’s more to it than that. The profile – flat between the feet, changing to camber and finally rocker as you move to the extremities – provides more than enough pop, but also handles deeper snow better than true camber.
“While this thing loves the park, it’ll happily take on the rest of the mountain too”

Carbon stringers in the nose and tail make the Rumble Fish hold the line better when you want to get aggressive, as does the sintered base. When things get really grim on choppy terrain, strips of cork along the sidewalls help to negate some of the chatter. So while this thing loves the park, it’ll happily take on the rest of the mountain too.
If there’s one thing you probably won’t want to do with this board, it’s loosey-goosey jibs in the park and on handrails; it’s just a bit too firm. The same could be said of most all-rounders, though, so The Salomon Rumble Fish loses no points for that. Quiver killer? You bet.
