A step up in quality from the NX Three, the Head NX Five snowboard bindings are aimed squarely at the intermediate to advanced rider. Despite the deceptively low price, there’s plenty of tech on display here.

We’ll start at the ankle strap, which is pretty unique. It’s fairly rigid out of the box, but you can slacken it off a bit by taking out the removable insert. Similar tech exists in the tongues of some high-end snowboard boots, but we’re pretty sure the NX Five is the only binding to apply this feature.

Which setting you choose will depend on the conditions, and on gnarlier terrain you’ll want to keep it in, so it can work in unison with the stiff highback and baseplate to ramp up the response.
