UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2019/2020 NOW NxGen here
When it comes to kids’ snowboard bindings, a lot of companies are guilty of short-changing younger riders on tech. It makes sense sometimes; for very young, rapidly-growing groms that are still learning the basics, there’s no point in high specs, especially when it corresponds to a less inviting price tag.
However, for those kids who are a little more developed, both physically and in riding ability, then it can be worth shelling out a little more for a pair that has more to offer performance-wise. That’s definitely what you’re getting with the NOW NxGen kids’ snowboard bindings.
“The NOW NxGen bindings have the same ‘Skate Tech’ foundation as its adult models”

While some common-sense changes have been made, the NOW NxGen bindings have the same ‘Skate Tech’ foundation of the models in its increasingly popular adult range. If you’ve never come across it before, here’s a quick explainer. The chassis features a central kingpin, on which it can rock slightly from the toe edge to the heel edge, and rubber bushings take the brunt of the pressure each time the movement occurs.
The benefits, according to NOW, are twofold; compared to a classic baseplate design, foot fatigue is reduced and edge hold is improved. (There’s also the option to swap out the bushing for ones with different densities to adjust the dampening, although for now that option isn’t available for the kids’ model).
