The liner works in two ways to keep your feet happy on the hill. Heat is retained by a carbon-enhanced fabric, keeping your toes toasty even on the coldest days. In warmer weather, sweat is directed away from your feet by moisture-wicking material. Combine these with some decent snowboard socks and you’re laughing.
Ultralon foam, held in high regard across the ski and snowboard boot industries, is there to give you the perfect liner fit – and if it’s been able to protect the shin bones of masochistic hard-booted two-plankers all these years, you know you can trust it.
The outer shell is naturally quite solid, in order for the Burton Ion to provide that extra level of support and response, but a section of softer material has been placed at the instep. When you crank down the ankle strap of your snowboard bindings, it helps to spread the pressure.
