When fellow sporting behemoth Nike shuttered its snowboarding department back in 2014, we wish we had a quid for everyone who immediately predicted that adidas would soon follow suit. Well, here we are – four years later, the Three Stripes crew continue to put out a fine line in boots.
The Tencza may have been dropped, but the five remaining pairs take all the good stuff from the brands’ skate heritage (as well as its considerable expertise in other sports) and applies it to the snow – and nowhere has that been more effective than in the adidas Tactical ADV snowboard boots.
“No matter how many days you ride – or what temperatures you expose it to – the Boost foam will do its thing”

The adidas Tactical ADV has features aplenty, and the star of the show is, as ever, adidas’ signature Boost foam. Also found in the brand’s perennially popular running shoes, this stuff soaks up unwanted vibrations encountered while riding, resulting in happier feet. Furthermore, that energy is redirected into your turns. It’s one that might be hard to get your head around without a decent understanding of physics, but those who like it swear by it.
Such effective material isn’t naturally sturdy, which is why adidas slap a hard-wearing rubber sole underneath it. No matter how many days you ride – or what temperatures you expose it to – the Boost foam will do its thing. Extra security comes from a textured backstay that grips the highback of your bindings.
