Drop MFG has been in the gloves ‘n’ mitts game for over 15 years, and recently relaunched with a fresh approach to shifting its gear. The direct-to-consumer model means that costs are kept to a suspiciously low level – roughly half of what you might pay elsewhere, according to the guys behind the brand.
So what about the gear itself? Is it any good? You can find out what we make of the Drop Traffic goggles here – and after getting our hands on (and in) the Drop Roach Gore-Tex snowboard mitts, we can confirm that they can go toe-to-toe – or is it finger-to-fnger – with any cold-weather options out there.

Material-wise, no expense has been spared. The Drop Roach mitts have a Gore-Tex insert, which is still the gold standard where keeping warm and dry is concerned. The insulation comes courtesy of Primaloft, another leader in its field, and it’s all wrapped up in a three-layer shell.
The palm is pure goat leather, flanked above and below by hard-wearing, grippy panels. The lower one has a nifty tab protruding out from it; when you’re putting the mitt on, a quick pull of that will ensure you’ve got the best possible fit.
Each mitt has a substantial wrist leash (seriously useful, these – and definitely not just for toddlers anymore), as well as a touchscreen-compatible area near your forefinger. Given that the Drop Chris Roach is for colder climates, any excuse to keep your hands protected is welcome.
