They say: Great for running to the hills.
We say: A solid stick with a soft flex for easy turns, jibs and butters. The rockered version is more forgiving, but less stable. Not the most high-tech board, but it’s solid, predictable and is strong enough to keep going long after its natural lifespan is over – a bit like Iron Maiden then.
Tester says: Great for someone wanting to progress their riding without comprising in performance.

About Stepchild
- Building boards since: 2001
- HQ: Blaine, WA, USA
- History lesson: Sean Johnson founded Stepchild snowboards with his mate Brad Richmond in 2000 because he was “sick and tired of retards ruining snowboard companies”. Johnson himself has been riding since 1985 and was part of the industry for ten years before starting the company, so he knows what he’s talking about when he says “We don’t want the industry to dictate to us what we should be doing about marketing, boards and advertising. We just try to concentrate on stoking out the kids.”
- Ridden by: Stoked out kids obviously. Mostly stoked out kids who wear badass bandannas, XXXL pants and walk around saying “Uhhhh son!” a lot. Can’t think who they’re trying to emulate…
